First post!

Hello blogging world!

After asking my facebook audience if people would actually read my blog, I've decided to take a shot. I've been thinking about doing a blog for a long time now, so I'm excited to see how this works.  I plan on trying to document my life as a 24 year old recent college graduate trying to figure out this thing they call "the real world."  I didn't think my life was that exciting to do a 365 photo blog, but I figured why not?

I suppose I should tell you a little about myself. I just turned 24, the catalyst for this blog.  I graduated from Colorado State University in August 2010 with a B.S. in Zoology. I'm originally from Memphis, Tennessee and have vowed to never move back.  College was awesome- I studied what fascinated me since a very early age, and had a vibrant social life.  Now I'm living in Boulder, working for Whole Foods, and frantically trying to find the 'dream job'...well any job better than my current one. I spend most of my time, when not working, with my 4 year old dog Lola (Rhodesian ridgeback-lab-boxer-pound puppy).  Lola enjoys snuggling, marrow bones, hiking, destroying hardcover books, and play dates at the dog park.  I love reading (99% nonfiction- I've been told this is weird), being in the mountains (camping, hiking, biking), microbrewery beer (I live in the 'napa valley' of beer!), learning new things, music (jam bands and rap are top in rotation..this shocks many people after they first get to know me)  and hanging out with friends.

I'm going to be courageous and just say what a twenty-something isn't suppose to say...ready? I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I would love to go to grad school, keep studying ecology, conservation biology, marine biology, etc. but then what? I was told blatantly in the Pre-Vet club "Many of you may have dreams of being a host on an Animal Planet or Nat. Geo show...well that's one in a million. Odds are...you won't"  This was just one of many dream crushing statement the pre-vet club put out there, but more on that in a later post. I'd like to go back and show them a copy of "Pink Boots and a Machete" I saw at b&n today- about a NFL cheerleader turned PhD and Nat Geo explorer.  I would make a good nat geo explorer, right? Contact some college friends about my demo tape involving me baiting sea gulls with cheetos. Just so you know, sea gulls love cheetos. So in doing this blog, you can follow me through my journey of finding my way in the seemingly impossible job search, and my pursuit of life, love, and happiness as a 24 year old girl in Colorado.

For everyone else in my shoes, I'm reading "Quarterlife Crisis" by Robbins & Wilner.  I just picked it up today, and have already breathed a sign of relief knowing that I'm not the only 20-something in a state of constant anxiety over the life decisions and job search I'm faced with upon the glorious graduation from college!

To wrap it up, I will post photos starting March 27, 2011 (my 24th birthday):

Ok- so this wasn't on my birthday, but I didn't have any photos from my actual birthday on my phone (this was on the 26th). This is my sorority family at the 95th anniversary weekend.

March 28, 2011- Driving back to Boulder (this is in Loveland) after a great birthday weekend in Fort Collins.  Nothing all that interesting this day. Worked all day.

March 29, 2011- While walking Lola around the neighborhood this morning, I noticed a Folly Beach sticker! I love FB, and would love to get a job in Charleston, SC.  I want to live near the mountains or the beach, but can't decided which. Guess that means Hawaii!
